These instructions describe how to configure the Mozilla Thunderbird email client version 1.06 to access the Tigerwave email server. These instructions may also work for slightly older or new versions of Thunderbird. Thunderbird is an open-source (free) email client available at the following web address: http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/
Note: When configuring Thunderbird, use the email address assigned to you by a Tigerwave administrator. Do not use the sample email value of king@example.com.
1. First, install (if necessary) and start the Thunderbird email application. Then, click on the Tools menu and select "Account Settings..." as shown below.

2. Use secure1.tigerwave.com as the server name as shown below. Check the TLS option. Use a port number of 587.. Check the "Use name and password" checkbox. Complete the "User Name" field with the email address given to you by Tigerwave. Do not use the sample value of king@example.com. Once you have configured the Outgoing SMTP Server, click the Add Account button.

3. Choose Email account and click Next.

4. Enter your name as you want it to appear in the From field when people receive email from you. Enter the email address given to you by Tigerwave. Do not use the sample value shown below. Then click Next.

5. Choose IMAP (not POP). Enter secure1.tigerwave.com as the Incoming Server. Then click Next.

6. Enter your Tigerwave email address into the Incoming User Name field. Then click Next.

7. For Account Name, enter any name you like to identify this email account. Then, click Next.

8. Now verify that all of the information that you entered is correct. If it is incorrect, you can use the Back button to return to previous pages and correct any mistakes. When finished, click the Finish button.

9. Once again, use Thunderbird's Tools -> Account Settings menu to bring up the Account Settings window. Click on "Server Settings" in the left panel. You should see values similar to those shown below except that your own Tigerwave username will be in the User Name field. Be sure to check the "Use secure connection (SSL)" checkbox. Checking this should automatically set the Port number to 993. Also check the "Use secure authentication" checkbox. If you do not see any values already entered into the various fields, try exiting the window and using the Tools -> Account Settings menu again to bring up the window. When finished, click OK to exit.

10. When you send or receive email, you may see a window asking for the mail server password. Enter your Tigerwave email password. Check the checkbox if you'd like to have Thunderbird remember your password for you. Note that checking the "remember password" checkbox will let anyone who gains access to your account on your computer to access your email without knowing your password.

11. If you see the following "Unknown Authority" dialog, check the "Accept this certificate permanently" option and click OK.

12. At this point, you should be able to use Thunderbird to send and receive email via Tigerwave's secure1.tigerwave.com email server. If any unexpected errors occur after configuring and first using Thunderbird, try exiting the program and restarting it.
